Founded in 1994, The
Green Jacket has become a centre for book lovers of all
ages, local artists' originals, prints, crafts and design
creativity.
The shop is air
conditioned, fully carpeted on two floors and we try to
provide friendly advice and literature for tourists of
all nationalities, as well as a service for local
residents.
Whilst the contents are
always changing, dependent on sales and demand, the
sections are constant. They are:-
Cyprus, Turkey and
Mediterranean:
Maps and
guide books, including The Windrush Guide to North
Cyprus, The Rough Guide and others in German, Russian and
English. Historical and political information, including Eothen
Press publications such as The Cyprus Issue by Professor
Clement Dodd, major works such as "Ataturk"
by Lord Kinross and books about the Venetions, the
crusades and the famous "Bitter Lemons" by
Lawrence Durrell. Birds of Cyprus by Peter
Flint and Flora
of Cyprus by Dr. Deryck Viney are among other
publications featuring local flora and fauna.
Travel:
Travel writers
such as Ranulph Fiennes, Judy Lomax and Gavin Young can
be found in this section as well as atlases, touring
guides and books on many different countries.
Cookery:
Turkish Cypriot
and Mediterranean Cookery books by Misli Albrecht and
Aytan Suphi, Mediterranean Seafood as well as many other
types of cuisine.
Children's Books:
From Enid Blyton
to Goosebumps and Dinosaurs to Peter Rabbit.
Classics:
Shakespeare,
Dickens, Austen, Hardy, Eliot - all the old favourites.
Biography and
Autobiography:
The subjects are
always changing, but are always diverse: Cliff Richard,
Lawrence Olivier, Sir Henry Wellcome

Art and Handicrafts:
Books on many
great artists with beautiful colour plates of their work
can be found together with many practical books of
handicrafts, including rugs and Turkish carpets.
History/Politics/Law/Medicine

paintings and prints by local artists such as Shiela
Aitken, Bill
Dreghorn and Ann Lawrence, crafts and handmade
gifts.
Comfy Clothes,
designed by Hassanah Burton for mail order sales in
Britain and made in the TRNC.

featuring internationally acclaimed TRNC pianist Rüya
